Our nod to the Fourth

Dave had to work the Fourth of July weekend (aah, the pleasures of Government work), so for home evening Monday night, we made sugar cookies and decorated them for our "celebration." This was also my way to provide us with treats for the week--clever, I know. Dave is off most of this week, so we'll need more treats than usual ;) Anyway, we had a lot of fun making and decorating the cookies. We loved coming up with USA-themes for each individual cookie.

We decided the duck (lower right) is for the president's Lame Duck status after a new president has been elected. And the red, white and blue that looks like the French flag? Because the French helped in the Revolution, of course!

This one on the bottom is Dave's rendition of George Washington. George is probably glad he didn't really look like that!

My two favorites, which Dave came up with--the elephant and donkey that are the Democrat and Republican mascots. Such a clever guy, my hubby!
We hope you all had as delicious a Fourth of July as we did. We love our country! We're so lucky to live here, with running water, education and the ability to worship as we please. Hooray, USA!
