saturday chores

Yesterday we had a fun, productive day. It was cool and windy but Dave and Jed worked in the yard reinforcing our bridge and put down the first application of fire ant killer. I planted our pepper and tomato seeds into pony packs.

Usually I buy the starts from the nursery, but I thought I'd try starting my own this year. I have this unexplainable need to save the little plastic containers the starts come in anyway, so I might as well put them to good use.

Same goes for popsickle sticks--I can't throw them away. After all, you never know when you're going to be assigned Lincoln's Boyhood Cabin for a diorama project. I'm glad they came in handy here. I am trying a couple of different varieties of tomatoes this year and I'm anxious to see how they turn out.
