fun with Nana and Papah

After our weekend in Big Piney, we went down to Spanish Fork to spend the week with my parents. We had a great time and did lots of fun things, like sewing the boys' Halloween costumes, playing with our cousin Jaxon, helping Papah change the oxygen sensor in the red truck, taking family pictures (okay, maybe that wasn't incredibly fun) and doing lots of reading and playing. We also got to see lots of family and some friends, although not as many as we wanted to. There is just never enough time to do everything! 

Jed loves the bouncy horse from when Hanna and I were little. He had to have a cowboy hat (cousin David is a great teacher!) and would spend lots of time riding.

Jed is quite the cowboy--no pants and a beautiful necklace in addition to his cowboy hat.

 Jed played so hard every day that he was usually grateful to take a nap. One afternoon I went to check on him and found him halfway off the bed, having fallen asleep while playing with the little red tractor. Poor tired guy!

 I wanted to get some family pictures while we were there, since it's so pretty along the river behind my parents' house. The boys were good sports and posed nicely for me in their owl hats.

 Jed is going through a FARTING phase. I am not a big fan. He'll lean to the side, let one loose, then look at me in mock apology and say "excuse me, I had a toot-toot." He can even do it on command! Above, he had just tooted and was so pleased with himself.

Although we were forecast to have terrible weather, aside from a little wind and rain each morning, it was beautiful. Jed had a great time playing in the leaves in the backyard several days.

My lovely sister Hanna was able to come down from Rexburg Thursday night to spend the weekend with us. Her husband Stephen had a test and a group project come up at the last minute so he couldn't get away. We were so sad not to be able to see Uncle Roro! But he did really well on his test, which was more important. I was so happy to see Hanna--it has been such a long time since we've been together. And I was so thrilled she could finally meet Hank.

He took to her instantly and had a great nap on her shoulder.

 Friday night we went to see my dad coach a football game! It was windy and pretty cold but we enjoyed ourselves. We had a great time reminiscing about all the football games we've sat through in various places and weathers, and we had a laugh about how we're probably the only family in the world who can recognize their dad by the way he adjusts his baseball cap or squats down to check on an injured player. The sound system was state-of-the-art and VERY loud. We had planned on Hank having a good sleep in his carseat but the constant crazy music and the announcer acting as a dating service for the upcoming Sadie Hawkins dance kept him awake. And now I feel really old for having complained about that. Hank was a champ and didn't cry til the end of the 3rd quarter. Since the boys on the field were losing pretty badly, we didn't feel too bad about going home early. Besides, Jed was getting fed up with all the people dancing to the music (he seems to feel that music should be listened to while standing still and keeping one's mouth firmly closed--no visible enjoyment allowed) and he tried to kick a lady in front of us to make her stop dancing. So we made our exit.

Saturday morning we took some more family pictures. My cousins Sydnie and Lauren are in an amazing singing group that was having a fundraiser by doing family pictures so we went to support them. We were sad that Stephen wasn't there to be a part of all the joy :)

Auntie Hanna and Hankers. Whoever was holding Hank for the picture had to keep their hand over his tummy since he's too plump for his jeans and we had to keep them unbuttoned lest he cry. Poor Chubby Wubby!

 

We really had such a great time with my family. It's always good to be together, even if it means shifting schedules. Thanks again Mom and Dad for letting us come!
