water fun with the Mays

We have been so lucky this summer to spend some time with our good friends, the May family. They live in Utah for most of the year but spend their summers at their lake cabin nearby. We met them at church last year and were so excited when they came back for another fun Michigan summer. Jed and Hank love to play with their 3 awesome kids. Jed has told me repeatedly that he wishes he could live at their house, and I think he really would if I would let him. John, Andrea and the kids left Monday for their "real life" in Utah, so we spent some time together the previous Monday, just hanging out and having fun on the lake. 

 Jed just loves to swim at the lake. Occasionally he can be convinced to go out in the kayak with Josh, and we beg him to come out and eat every so often, but other than that, he is content to swim. He likes to pretend to be a frog or a shark or some other water creature.

 We had a great laugh at John and their dog Bodie in the paddle boat. Bodie is HUGE and he loves to be on the water. He was quite the dog of leisure in the boat, riding around like a king.

 Hank loves to play in the water too, especially since there aren't any waves like at the Lake Huron beach.

I have loved having a great LDS friend so close. Andrea is such a good example to me of thoughtful mothering and purposeful discipleship, plus she is a great cook and has a fabulous sense of humor. Dave really appreciates having John around too--they both possess a nice dry wit and are rabble rousers together. The kids play so well together and Josh is an especially good example to the boys. We will certainly miss them during the school year and look forward to more good times next summer!
