We left Big Piney on Tuesday morning and headed down to Flaming Gorge,

Flaming Gorge Reservoir
across Colorado and into Buena Vista where my uncle Matt, his wife Cara and their darling girl Jenna put us up for the night. We had so much fun seeing Matt and Cara and Jenna. Jed loved playing with Jenna's toys (and Jenna) and we adults had an awesome time chatting. The next day we went to my grandparents' house and stayed until Friday morning. It was SO good to be able to see my Papa and Grandma Donna for such a long time. They graciously organized a family party and we got to see a lot of my uncles, aunts and cousins, plus eat amazing food. We loved seeing everyone and will really miss you all!
After we left Colorado Friday morning, we headed south to New Mexico. We drove south to Taos and then turned east. We have hit such a variety of weather on this trip--W-I-N-D, snow, rain, and lovely warm. We were snowed on in New Mexico and have fought the wind from day one. It is getting tiresome. Our canoe is pretty much acting like a sail and that's not so cool.

We have been seeing these crazy cacti across New Mexico and the Texas panhandle. Finally Dave pulled over and we got an up-close and personal look. They're super cool.

Last night we stayed at the Camelot Inn in Amarillo. Unfortunately, we saw no shining armor or distressed damsels, but we got a good night's sleep and were ready to hit the road today.

WINDMILLS! We saw so many windmills today around Lubbock. It was really cool.

Dave and Jed with our caravan. We got Jed some sunglasses of his own. He likes to take them off but isn't too good at putting them back on. I'll try to get a close-up of them tomorrow.

The poor boy is turning into a good traveler, but it isn't by his choice. I think he's getting pretty tired of the toys we brought for him. Yesterday all he wanted to play with was a toothbrush!

So, that's where we are today. We're planning on getting to Crockett tomorrow. Hooray!
