swinging and swimming

We went to Ratcliff Lake again on Tuesday. Jed loves swimming so much that we figured we'd leave the canoe home this time and just swim. When we got there, Dave took us on a little tour of the campgrounds to show me what they've been working on, like the new bathrooms. At the end of the campground loop is a large day-use area, where there's an eating pavilion, campfire bowl and a playground. We decided to swing for a little while because Jed loves that too.

Daddy and Jed swinging together

Jed thinks it's so funny to watch us swing next to him. He laughed uncontrollably the whole time one of us was next to him.

"Yay, I'm swinging!"

After we got tired of the swings, we headed back over to the swimming area. We always go early in the day so we get the place to ourselves and it's not too hot. Tuesday was no exception--ours was the only truck in the parking lot. The water level had risen quite a bit so it wasn't as easy for Jed to walk around in the water, but we had fun chasing the minnows again and playing on the steps.

Jed liked taking little pebbles and throwing them in the water.

We had a little swimming lesson:

Jed is pretty good at keeping his mouth closed when it's under water, and he's good at kicking his legs and paddling his arms--just not at the same time! Auntie Hanna or Auntie Sarah will have to come and give a real swim lesson, I guess :)

After we swam for about an hour and a half, we got out and had a little lunch. A bunch of other people showed up then, so we were glad we'd had all the swimming we wanted. We finished our lunch and headed home.

Such a fun day! I'm so glad Ratcliff is so close so we can go any time we want.
