Christmas Day in the Morning

We have had a lovely Christmas thus far. It took Jed a while to notice that Santa had come--he was more interested in getting his tummy full--but once he did, he ran right over to investigate his new rocking horse.
I love the look on his face here, the wonder of it all. We have been "visiting" this rocking horse at the store occasionally, and I think he was pretty surprised to find it here this morning.

He walked all around it, checking it out...

...and then got on for a ride. Unfortuately, the horse bucked him off once at the store. Jed has loved riding it this morning, but he wants us right by him to make sure he doesn't get thrown again. I'm sure it'll be no time at all before Jed is chasing down the bad guys at lightning speed.

After the thrill of the rocking horse, it took some time before Jed was interested in the rest of his stocking. Inside, he found some ties and some beanbags that Mrs. Claus made him, some matchbox cars and lots of candy!

Beanbags!

In keeping with another Scherbel tradition, after we opened our stockings, we stopped to get dressed and eat breakfast. We love to eat orange rolls every year for Christmas Day breakfast. I learned to make them from my friend Minte in Dillon and we can't get enough of them!

After breakfast, we got back to the baccanelia of Christmas!

For some reason, my parents decided that Jed needed a harmonica for Christmas. I swear I was never that bad of a child, that they should curse us with this, but they think it is a great gift. Actually, Jed can't really blow it that much yet--he puts his mouth near it and hums--so Dave has been playing all sorts of Christmas and other tunes. He's got "Oh, Susanna" concert-ready.

Jed's all-time favorite Christmas present?

The stock-pot that came from my parents!

We hope you all have the most wonderful Christmas! Our family is thankful for all the good things that have come our way this year, and we're so grateful to celebrate the birth of our Savior.
