garden "bounty"

Our garden has been completely less than productive this summer. We are fighting hard to keep a few tomato, pepper and squash plants alive, but they aren't producing much that we can actually eat. It has been so hot for so long that the plants are just barely alive, despite the fact that we water them every day. It is so disheartening, especially after how well everything did last year. I am praying that it will cool off again and we will be able to plant a fall garden soon and actually harvest something besides dead twigs.

However, we did harvest something amazing:

We were a little worried that it would be all rind, but when Dave sliced it open, it cracked like a good melon should and proved to be juicy and delicious (high praise indeed, coming from me, the confirmed melon loather). I am so glad we grew something we can be proud of this year!
