I love the blueberry farm here. It is so beautiful and well maintained.
The owners are so kind and have things down to a science. All the buckets for picking are practically new, the berry bushes and the rows between are beautifully manicured, and they have the cleanest porta-potties I have EVER seen.
It's a fabulous spot about 30 miles away from our house. And it's also cheap--only $1.20 a pound!
We have already been picking once this year and got 20 pounds, so this trip was more of a pleasure trip than a necessity. My mom has never picked blueberries and we were excited to show her how easy and quick it was.
The morning was absolutely gorgeous. We had had a huge rainstorm the night before so the grass and bushes were pretty wet and the breeze felt a little fall-ish, but all of that contributed to make it a perfect day. The blueberry patch wasn't crowded at all and we were able to move through the rows and talk to each other the whole way.
Jed is not much of a blueberry picker.
Dave is a great picker, though! He is the real reason behind our successful picking days--he can strip a bush in no time flat.
I am still pregnant, obviously.
I keep doing things that I am hoping will send me into labor, but without any success. I am mostly content to let Baby Brother do his thing, as long as he comes a few days before my mom has to leave.
Jed mostly had a great time running through the blueberry patch
and talking into the reflectors. I think he thinks they're a big microphone.
We are LOVING having my mom here for such a long visit. We have been able to do so many fun things and Dave and I have even been able to sneak off for a quiet walk here and there. And I know my mom is having a great time with Jed--she is the best Nana ever--while we all wait for Baby Brother to show up.
Even though it is late in the season, we filled two buckets and came away with a little over 10 pounds. We froze 5 pounds and have saved 5 pounds out for eating. YUM!!
