a walk on the pier

Last Saturday we were feeling some MAJOR cabin fever! Since it was actually decently warm and the rain had stopped for a little while, we headed out to the city beach park for a walk.

 Hank and I were really happy to get outside!

 Jed got a new tractor courtesy of Grandma Loretta and Grandpa Denny. It had to come with us, and Jed excitedly drove it everywhere.

 He loaded it with sand and drove the sand around for the whole time we were there.

 While Lake Huron doesn't freeze, a pretty decent crust of ice does develop along the shore. It was fun to watch the water spray up the ice. Since we had had a string of fairly warm days, the ice had melted quite a bit. I need to go back now and take pictures of how much the ice has grown.

 You may remember that during the summer the city was working quickly to build the pier. It's finally finished and is really nice. I am excited for summer so we can spend a little more time out on it.

 Hank has TWO teeth now and loves to suck on them. It's incredibly hard to get a picture of them because he's always sucking on them!.

 We stayed long enough that it began getting dark and the lights came on on the pier. I thought it looked so pretty against the sand, the dark lake and lighter sky.

 Jed had a blast walking along the pier and looking at each light.

It was a really nice afternoon/evening to get outside and relieve some of our boredom. Unfortunately, that was one of our last nice days. Since then, it has either been rainy/sleety, snowy or FRIGIDLY cold, as I'm sure it has been for most of you. We haven't really gotten a lot of snow, just enough to keep the ground covered, but not enough to ski or sled on. We're keeping our fingers crossed for more snow so we can actually enjoy winter!
