Things We're Learning

We have learned a lot of things lately. We're learning that just because Luvs diapers claim they're as good as Huggies doesn't mean it's so. Or maybe Jed knows he's wearing cheapo diapers and pees a lot more to see if they'll hold up. Either way, it's not working. Luvs Leak! Thank goodness we only wear them when we're out on the town, or at night. Wait...

We're learning that just because the clock says it's 5:00 doesn't mean Jed thinks he should be asleep. This morning, Jed woke up (wet because of a Luvs Leak) at 5:00 and thought he should be up for a while. I managed to convince him otherwise, thank goodness!

Unfortunately, I'm learning that all decidedly yucky diapers seem to happen when Dave's gone overnight and I've just cleaned the toilet. So I get the pleasure of rinsing out a gag-inducing diaper all to myself. Lucky!

We have both learned many times over that Jed's teeth are SHARP. He grinds them together sometimes, a habit we're vehemently discouraging, and I think he does this to sharpen his teeth. Because he seems to get great pleasure in crawling over to one of us and clamping down on a toe, or a nose or what have you. So, visitors beware!

Jed is learning that his bedroom is just as much fun--if nor more--than the living room. The bedroom has much more scope for destruction, it seems.

Jed flings the crappy Luvs out of the package and all over the floor. He crawls under his crib and bangs on the heater, which has that resounding metal clang to it. He dumps out the dirty clothes in the tub and pulls all the blankets off the shelves. His favorite thing to do is dump out the socks from the little basket and hide them in odd places, so you have to search for them, giving Jed a chance to get away. Our boy is definitely not stupid!

I really love that his bedroom is boy-proof. It is nice to be able to let him crawl around and do as much damage as he'd like without having to worry that he's going to chew on a cord or eat dirt from a plant. I have boy-proofed our house, it's true, but the bedroom didn't need anything. It's so nice for both of us that I don't have to tell him "No" all the time!
