These pictures are long overdue; the truth of the matter is that I forgot about them. But the stuff in the pictures is too interesting to just pass over, so here you go.

The old El Camino Real runs straight through Crockett. From what we understand, for the past several years, from Natchitoches, Louisana to Bryan, Texas, there have been yard sales along the "trail" the first weekend in May. Since I'm still furnishing our house, I wasn't going to miss it. So we headed out last weekend and joined the caravan along the "sale on the trail."

We had a lot of fun, saw a bunch of different people's junk and ate at a cute mom-n-pop restaurant. Jed had a nap. After Jed's nap, he was hungry again and determined to feed himself:

he did pretty well, considering

mama watching to make sure all is going well

yams were all over his front, but he was really proud of himself. And so were we--he didn't fling them everywhere!

We were also pretty proud of our finds, which I scored for a grand total of $5. I know!

This nightstand has some scratches on top and I want to paint it and put different hardware on it, but I'm waiting to find another nightstand for the other side of the bed before I do that.

I think this is my favorite thing I've ever found at a yard sale. It is an old console radio/record player. It doesn't work as a record player any more--the plug came out, the lady said--but we are turning it into a credenza for storing our dvd's and player. It is the perfect demensions for our living room, and I love the hardware and the brackets on either side of the doors. Dave has been working hard on refurbishing it this past week and it's looking great, so you'll have to stay tuned for the finished product.

good job Jed! Seriously...I wish I could get Lydia to eat food out of a bowl without throwing it all over...
Good finds too! I wish we lived close together and could do yard-saling together - isn't it so great to find something amazing?
