Easter, part II

Saturday morning the boys were up SUPER early. I guess this should not come as a surprise--if the boys are still asleep at 6:30 it's "sleeping in." I don't know if they were excited about the Easter Bunny (we tried not to build that up too much) or just excited to see a sunny day, but regardless, the day began early. After getting mostly dressed, we went downstairs to see what the bunny had brought.

 Kindly notice Hank in the back of this picture, totally unconcerned with the spoils left by the Easter Bunny. And where is Jed, you may ask? He was staring out the window by our front door, cheering about all the eggs the Rabbit had left behind.

 It took major convincing to get Jed to come look in his basket. He was determined to go outside and hunt for eggs (see his jacket on the floor?) but after we told him several times it was too early and too cold to go outside, he settled for trying out his new set of wheels.

 Dave and I received a spectacular solar charger from the Bunny. We are feeling a lot more prepared now!

 Hank got this cute little scooter that transitions into a bike by flipping down the pedals. He was pretty excited about the storage capacity in the back.

 Jed is mostly excited about his bike. He is disappointed that it doesn't have training wheels like his old bike, but he is excited that it is big like Jeremy's so he can go F A S T!

 Of course, after the excitement over everything died down, we had to try to put the old training wheels on the new bike.

 It turned out to be a bigger project than Dave was ready for before breakfast. We ate some toast and peaches and then, to distract Jed from the fact that his new bike and old training wheels are not compatible, headed out to hunt eggs.

  Jed was SO THRILLED. Beyond thrilled. He kept running around, grabbing eggs and yelling "It's really Easter! Ooh, look, another egg! I am such a good finder! Oh, it's really Easter now!" It was so, so funny and adorable.

 Hank tried out his new wheels. He is still getting the hang of them but really seems to enjoy them.

 Still hunting for eggs. I need to write a big thank-you note to the Easter Bunny and tell him he doesn't have to bring quite so many eggs next year.

 That sun was SO bright! Not a normal photo for any of us. 

After we had eaten some candy and a little more breakfast, we decided to go on a little bird-watching expotition before going to the city's Easter egg hunt. We had such fun and saw some really great birds.

 When we walked into the park for the egg hunt, we found Jeremy right away, and he asked if Jed wanted to take a picture with the Easter Bunny with him. (One thing I love about Jeremy is that he encourages Jed to be braver than he usually is on his own. And Jed does the same thing for Jeremy. It's so sweet). I love how they're both like "uuh, this is pretty bizarre."

The egg hunt was a MADHOUSE and the hunting was all over in about 5 minutes. After we turned in our empty eggs for a bag of candy (best idea I have ever heard of at an egg hunt!) we sat down to enjoy some hot dogs, chips and punch.

Despite the sun, it was FREEZING. We ate fairly quickly, listened to see if we'd won anything with our free raffle tickets (Hank won a stuffed mallard that quacks) and played for about 45 minutes at the playground with several of Jed's friends (and mine) from MOPS. Then we headed home to eat some more lunch and get warm. It was a fun, fun day!
