Christmas morning the boys slept in a bit and Dave and I enjoyed reading in bed for a little while. Then we all went downstairs to see what the Jolly Old Elf had left behind.
Jed and his beloved Shu
The boys played with their cars that Santa had left and ate a few chocolates from their stockings while Dave and I made breakfast. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, and orange rolls, just like every year. And we tried a little science while we were cooking. I like to put lots of veggies--onions, peppers, spinach, kale--into our eggs. The kale had gotten pretty limp in the fridge, so Dave trimmed the bottom and put it into a pitcher of water, and it perked right back up. As we were laying in bed that night discussing the day, I asked him what his favorite part of the day had been. He said "the kale! It was a definite Christmas miracle!" Ha!
After breakfast we dove back into the presents.
Hank got a large Mack the truck from Cars--he's fun to play with and has space to store cars inside! And Jed got Siddley, the spy jet from Cars2 who can shoot missiles and rescue cars from dangerous missions. Both the boys were so thrilled!
Both of the boys were beyond thrilled with their main presents, plus the presents they'd gotten each other and ones they'd received from extended family members. Dave got me a beautiful turquoise ring, a biography of Laura Ingalls Wilder, and an eye exam/new pair of glasses. I got him a new wallet and new cross-country skis and accessories. And we got our meat grinder, which we'd already used. We had a great time skyping with all of our extended family, watching new movies, reading lots of new books, playing with new toys, and lounging all day in our jammies. It was a perfect Christmas!

Merry Christmas! The boys are so cute. You should do a post about using your meat grinder. I am curious about where you get your meat.
